From pondering to day dreaming, Prince Chahaya ends up falling asleep on his chair. He feels safe that all the unstructured thoughts have now taken shape. But without his knowledge, Princess Intan has slipped into his room. She finally feels ready to apologize to Prince Chahaya for all the craziness she did to him, Ara and Prince Surya that day.
"Chahaya, are you asleep?" she whispered after she has come closer to the table and finds Chahaya's head leaning, tilting back on the chair.
"You have become so busy with Surya gone. I wish I would have come to you a bit sooner. I don't understand why I behaved the way I did. Maybe you are right. My mental health has been deteriorating so much since... You know since Mother left."
Princess Intan just stands there and talks to the sleeping Prince Chahaya. She admires the peaceful face of him sleeping as her fingers unconcsciously move to stroke his eyebrows. He moves a bit which causes the princess to pull her hands away. She cannot breathe for a bit because she thought that Prince Chahaya has caught her snooping and touching his face without his consent. But luckily, Prince Chahaya does not wake up and continues on sleeping.
The princess sighs in relief. As she is about to take her leave, her eyes caught the piece of paper that is laying on the table. She stops to admire his handwriting. But then she notices what the writing is about. Her eyes bulges out in disbelief as she carefully looks toward Prince Chahaya to make sure he is in fact, still sleeping. Then she leans forward to read it more carefully. Being scared beyond measure, the princess quickly runs out of the room, tiptoeing.
"What was that?" she said to herself when she is safely off the room.
She had made sure that there was no guard around. She may not be smart, but she is bright enough to know that if a guard sees her in there, he would notify the prince. Prince Chahaya will realize what happens and Princess Intan's life may not be safe. If Prince Chahaya is able to go such length to steal Prince Surya's place, what will stop him to go to even further length to shut Princess Intan's mouth for life? Princess Intan walks like a zombie throughout the castle. She does not know where she wants to but she knows what she does not want to be at. Her room. She cannot possibly be alone after knowing what she knows.
"Princess." Somebody called her.
She turns around to see that it is the Queen that called her. She quickly fakes a smile and curtsies to show respect," Your Majesty."
"Please. You know you don't have to do that to your aunt."
"I-I am.."
"Is everything alright?" The Queen asked.
"Y-Yes. Everything is fine." Once again, Princess Intan puts her best smile to cover up her fear.
"Would you like to have some tea with me? I could use a company."
"Of course. I will be more than delighted," answered Princess Intan unwillingly.
She tries her best not show her reluctance. How can she reject an invitation of a queen? Even though she is currently in a mess, she cannot show it to Queen Remboelan. Moreover, she cannot tell her anything regarding what Prince Chahaya is planning. At least not yet.
'I need to think of how to inform the King and Queen without putting myself in danger,' she thought as the two ladies walk toward the pocket garden to have their afternoon tea.
Behind the queen, a parade of maids are holding pots, cups, and many different containers containing cookies, honey, sugar and milk. There are at least six of those maids. The guards are guarding in front of them, making sure that the path is clear. A movement which in Princess Intan's opinion is unnecessary in Garuda. Nobody would dare to halt the queen. She will surely have a smooth trip wherever she goes even without a guard.
When they finally reach the glass room in the garden, the maids quickly sets up the table and the tea items for the royal ladies. Princess Intan sits uncomfortably because she knows how good the queen is when it comes to reading people. She is afraid. Afraid that the queen will be able to see through her eyes and find the truth.
"You seem to have a lot in your mind today, Intan."
"Uhm. Yes, Aunt Remboelan. I have been wanting to apologize to Prince Chahaya for my bad behavior... to my lady-in-waiting. He seemed to hate how I behaved." Princess Intan quickly makes up a story to answer the queen.
'Well, I am not one hundred percent lying. At least fifty percent of it is true,' she thought to herself.
"I see. Well, I guess that makes the two of us. I also have a lot in my mind."
"If I may know. Is it about Surya?" Princess Intan forces herself to be brave. She needs to know how Prince Surya is doing for her to understand the extent of disaster Prince Chahaya is planning.
"Yes. One of it is Surya. The majority of my problems actually."
"I see. I wonder if he is safe."
"I hope he is safe. It is hard to believe that he is kidnapped," said Queen Remboelan as her eyes drifts away, slowly lost in the distance.
"I wish I would have been nicer to Surya," continues the queen.
"But Aunt Remboelan, you have always been so gentle and caring toward Surya and Chahaya," answered Princess Intan.
She knows first hand how gentle and kind the queen is. She may look cold and unamuse toward others but Princess Intan knows very well how deeply lonely and hurt the queen is.
"Thank you, my dear." The queen looks at her niece with the most gentle eyes.
She strokes Princess Intan's hair and said,"I wish I had been more caring and attentive toward you too. After you lost your mother... I am sorry, my dear niece."
Princess Intan can feel her eyes welling up. She knows that feeling. The warmth and the rush of water in her eyes, forcing to come out and flow. After Prince Chahaya, then this. Princess Intan is not that strong. But she still tries to resist. As a royal family, she knows very well that showing emotion is a sign of weakness.
"It is all in the past, Aunty. I am okay now." She tries to put on a smile despite her sadness.
The queen proceeds to hug her. But only for a minute. She then composes herself back, showing no emotion again. They both sip the tea, which has turned cold.
"I should go to attend the king. But if you need anything, even just a friend to talk to, you can always come to me. I am always here in Garuda," she smiles then stands up to take her leave.
As the queen leaves the garden, all the maids and guards follow. Princess Intan is now being left alone with her cold cup of tea in her hand and some biscuits to accompany her.
