Prince Surya is taken back to his cell, guarded by Topan. Both Topan and Prince Surya do not say anything throughout the walk from Topan's room to Prince Surya's cell. Upon arrival, Topan unlocks the door with the big key which Prince Surya predicts to be at least 100 years old.
"Think about it," said Prince Surya in a much lowered tone before moving in to his cell and lets Topan locks him in once more.
Topan walks away, ready to carry out his mission of delivering the tape to King Mega. He now has to prepare a strategy. At the back of his mind, Prince Surya's voice lingers again and again as if asking him about what he really wants inside his heart.
But Topan does not have time for being uncertain, he heads back to his room to prepare the delivery. After packing the tape, he races to Guntur's room.
"We have a mission," said Topan without knocking. Guntur who was lying down on his bed promptly shoots up to his feet.
"A misson?" he asked half stuttering from the surprise visit.
"We are going to Garuda. You are going to keep watch upon our arrival there. I will deliver this tape to the broadcasting room," said Topan.
"A..tape?" Guntur seems confused but Topan does not have time to reply.
"Dress up. I will be waiting at the barrack," he said before leaving his apprentice to gear up.
Guntur gets dressed and carries the gun and knife with him. He does not know if the Garuda people have known of his betrayal; therefore, he needs to be fully prepared of potential ambush.
'Better prepared than sorry.'
He swings his door shut and sprints to the barrack. The distance between his room and the barrack could at least be 1 km far. By the time he reaches the barrack, he is panting and sweating profusely.
"Took you long enough, boy!" said Petir who is standing alongside Topan.
"Captain Petir!" said Guntur in between his breaths.
"Looks like it's just us boys journeying to Garuda again, huh?" said Petir, trying to melt the tension which is very visible on both Topan and Guntur's faces.
"Off we go then," said Topan, ignoring Petir's attempt of melting the nerves.
The three gets into the small submarine and buckles themselves up. After communicating with the barrack commander, the submarine is ready to go.
"3..2.."
"Engine ready!" said Petir to the barrack.
"...1.. Propel!" ordered the commander and the submarine launched out of the barrack into the open sea.
This is the first time Guntur actually pays a closer look at the surrounding of Neo Renegades Headquarter. The sea is dark because it is beyond reach of sunlight - or could be just a nightfall. There are some scary looking fish which look like a descendant of salt-water crocodiles of the olden days.
"Those fish have mutated. They did not look like this when there was still land on Earth," said Petir, noticing Guntur's awe.
"Yes. In my biology class, I do not recall ever seeing this kind of fish," answered Guntur.
"The sea had been heavily polluted near the "apocalypse" in the year 2150. That had wiped out the entire fish species we had known of. Those that survived, ended up mutating. Most becoming more dangerous with the increasing competition in water for food and space," explained Petir.
"That is amazing! How do you know so much?" asked Guntur.
"Petir used to be a professor at Matahari long ago," said Topan.
"Aye! But let's not talk about those gloomy days!" said Petir.
"So, are these fish still edible? We were still eating fish at Garuda if I remember correctly. The meat is white and plump and.." Guntur stopped after seeing how sad Petir looks.
"Those fish you ate are what remains of the old species. In 2150, each country took all the eggs, seeds, and resources that could be saved from the "apocalypse". They started breeding and growing the resources in a controlled environment, most of which is in Matahari," explained Petir.
"It's sad that only Garuda receives those amazing fish," said Guntur.
"Oh, don't be, boy! Soon, we will be eating fish again!" Petir winks at Guntur, reminding him of how important this mission is for the welfare of everyone in Rama and the Neo Renegades headquarter.
Guntur nods at Petir and shifts her focus into the ocean view. The darkness of the water is beautifully scary. When he looks up, he could see some fluorescent jellyfish, drifiting away in the dark towards the surface.
"Those jellyfish. Are they also dangerous?" asked Guntur, his curiousity has been awaken and he cannot contain himself. This is the first time he feels like he has actually "seen" the world. Before, it had always been about the kingdom, the "Takdir" placement, and working.
"If I remember correctly, those are mutated box jellyfish. They acquired the ability to shine in the dark. Those pink fluorescent light is quite rare for marine animals, you see. I could only hypothesized that they acquired those ability to scare away enemies."
"They're beautiful."
"Beauty can be dangerous here. The more beautiful, the more deadly. One sting from those giant jellyfish can kill you within minutes," explained Petir.
"Giant? They look small."
"My boy! They look small because they are so far away. They are at least as big as you are!" laughed Petir.
While Guntur is enjoying the beauty of the ocean; Topan is lost in his thoughts. He has the letter Prince Surya gave him still in his uniform. But he cannot make up his mind. He needs to actually see into his heart. Does he want to avenge his parents together with the Neo Renegades? Or does he want to live his dream?
'Will it be selfish of me if I want to be a royal guard again?' he asked himself, drifitng away into his childhood.
Back when he was still a little boy in Rama. The overachiever Topan managed to get himself a badge of the royal guard. The first to be selected during "Takdir" placement. He remembers how proud he was, how proud his parents were. Then he remembers the life he has lead since then, the glory and pride of bearing such elite duty. Meanwhile, his parents were starving in Rama.
When he lost them, he was fulfilling his duty for the queen, guarding here during her trip to the Sultanate of Malaynesia; hence, he could not go home. It is a regret he cannot forego from that day onwards. With time, regret turns into anger and frustration. During that painful time is when Hindia came to persuade him of becoming a Neo Renegade soldier. Topan has not looked back since.
