Welcome to senior year. Every students nightmare and paradise. Only months until we graduate and free from suffering in high school. But days could change when it’s time to end. Three best friends named Nick, George, and Kelly are ready to face every challenge in senior year. Fortunately, when they got into high school, Kelly becomes smater and wiser. Nick is still the smartest guy in the group. George remains the same, except that he has more patches on his red iconic hoodie.
They head to each of their classes on separate ways. Nick is trying to avoid eye contact with anyone, but he can’t take his eyes off of a girl. Her name is Justine. Nick’s longtime crush since middle school. She has an obsession with theater art and Nick thinks its kind of cute. It has been his dream to be with Justine for the rest of his li-
“Excuse me? Are you okay?” Nick’s train of thoughts were interrupted by Justine.
“What? Oh, yea i- I’m fine thanks,” he scratches the back of his neck. “You’re Nick, right?” “Yeah, how did you know?” Justine laughed.
“We were chair mates back in 7th grade, remember? You helped me with most of my math exercises.” “Oh yea! You called me a genius one time!” They both laughed and they heard the bell rang.
“See you at lunch?” “Sure!” Justine waved goodbye and Nick smiles to himself.
It’s time for lunch break. Nick takes his usual table with George and Kelly. In the middle of talking to each other, Nick notices that Justine is talking to a guy. His name is Adam, a school bully with excellent sport skills. Nick feels jealousy filling up his body. Without any warning, he climbs the lunch table. George and Kelly exchange looks and back on Nick. Then Nick begins,
“Sorry everyone. May have your attention? Okay, uh- I wanted to say a few words about myself. I know I’m a nerd and one of the most underrated student in school, but that is about to change soon. When I was younger, I had dark days and I thought I couldn’t handle it. I almost took my own life, but here I am now. I’m happy and I live life as it should. I mean, high school isn’t so bad after all. I- I think that’s all, thank you.” Nick settled down beside George and sighs.
George makes a weird gesture as a sign of confusion.
“What was that all about?! Are you sure about this?” Nick stay silent.
“Yea, Nick. Tell me you’re lying,” Kelly joins in.
“I was. But maybe it will happen and you guys can’t stop me,” Nick walks away from them and heads to who knows where.
George and Kelly let it go and try to forget about what happened earlier.
The next day, George is starting to be concerned about Nick. He didn’t show up at school. At break, he walks to Nick’s house and knocked his door. No answer. Knock the window. Still no answer. He soon realizes that he last saw him going to the school’s second floor bathroom. He rushes back to school and enter the boy’s restroom. What he found was devastating. It was Nick hanging with a note in his hand. George kneels down and muttered,
“I’m so sorry, Nick. I could have stop you earlier. I guess I was too late.”
He takes the note from Nick’s hand and read it aloud.
“To my best friends,
George and Kelly.
By the time your reading this, I might have took my own life. You guys were my closest friends since forever. You guys deserve another shot and keep looking forward to it. I can’t deal with all the voices in my head, so I did what I must. I’m sorry if I ever disappoint you.
Sincerely,
Nick.”
George sobs a little bit too loud the students nearby the bathroom comes in. They were shocked when they saw Nick’s body. Justine comes in and kneeled beside George. He can hear her mumbling about something, but Kelly comes in too. It happened too quickly, most of them were flattered. Now, there’s nothing they can do but surviving senior year without Nick.
