A glimpse of light shining through my clear blue eyes as I opened my window curtain. After I opened my window curtain I walked up to my bathroom and take a cold shower so that I feel refreshed before I go to school. When I was about to change I heard my mom shout “Jade, breakfast is ready!” “okay mom I’ll be down in a sec.”. So then, I had breakfast with my mom- I’am the only child I used to have a brother but he got miscarriage and for my father he works everyday and every time so my mom and I barely seen him- “so are you excited for your first year of university?” Alice, my mom asked.

“yeah, I can’t wait to make new friends.”

 My mom and I are extremely close every time I feel sad I’d always talked it out, she is like the best mother that any child could ask for. “we better go or else you will be late.” my mom told me.

“okay, let me just grab my bag upstairs.”

“yes ma’am!”

Before I went out the car I said goodbye to my mom. Because I’m very thrilled to start first day in university, me being my silly self decided to run to my first classroom. As I was running I bumped myself into a black haired guy “hey, watch where you’re going.” he said in an angry tone

“oh yeah, I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to bump into you.”

After I said that he just rolls his eyes and walked away. I am pissed by the way he acted it was so rude of him. After the “incident” that had happened I went to class.

After lunch I went to my last class, there I saw the same guy who I bumped into earlier. There was no more empty seats left other then next to him, so I went to sit down next to him. “do you mind if I sit here?” I questioned him

“not at all, go ahead.” he replied without hesitation

Wait hold on, earlier he was so rude to me why is he so nice now?

“oh yeah, weren’t you the girl I bumped into earlier?”

“yup, again I’m so sorry for bumping into you”

“it’s alright, you should be more careful though also I’m sorry for the way I acted before, I’m pissed because I left my book at home”

“yeah, no worries. Mind if I ask what book you left cause you sure seem pretty pissed?”

“pride and prejudice.”

“I love that book.”

“you like to read too?”

“yes I love to read, I have a room full of books in my house it’s like a library in there maybe sometime we can hang out there together?”

“that would be awesome!”

I smiled “how about we exchange numbers so that we can contact each other easily?”

“sure.” he reply without hesitant

“I think we haven’t properly introduce our self haven’t we?” I questioned

“oh yeah it slipped my mind.” he said 

“my name is Jade Diaz.” I said as I reached out my hand

“what a beautiful name you got there, my name is Alec Dawn” he said as we both shake our hands. We then exchanged phone numbers.

The next couple of months Alec and I have been talking to each other non-stop, I just get this comfortable feeling when talking to him. After uni I head straight home. When I opened my house door I couldn’t believe what I just saw, my dad. He hasn’t been home for the past 2 months because of a business trip. “hey, sunshine” my dad called me out but I rolled my eyes “honey, be more polite to your father please.” I nod and went up my room.

The next morning, I saw my mom on the couch crying her eyes out. “mom are you okay?” I asked her in a soft tone “honey, your father...he…” silence 

“you’re father…he’s gone” and there I froze. “what happened?”

“he went to his office last night to get some of his work files then he called me and told me that he wouldn’t able to come home cause his boss told him to stay and helped him with some work. He then sent me a voice massage saying that he was on his way home at 4 AM, before I got a call from Ace  Hospital saying that Joe Diaz got into a car accident and couldn’t make it.” the next thing I knew was tears running down my face.

A month later my family, Alec, and I mourn my father’s death. I’m so sad and disappointed on how I acted towards him luckily I still got my mom and Alec who’s always been by my side.
