By: Gavra Saloka D.
There were 5 sisters, they are Lina, Niki, Colette, Pamela, and Violet. On their school holiday, their twin friend from Seville, Andalusia sent them a package with a letter and lots of beautiful flamenco dresses. They wrote the sisters a letter, because they want to invite all 5 sisters to join an event called Feria De Abril. It is the most important festival in Seville. This week-long celebration offers an explosion of flowers and music and happens every spring. When the sisters open the package, they see 5 stunning flamenco dresses. They all loved the dress. Then, they packed up things they will bring to Spain.
Two days later, they landed at the airport in Seville. Anita and Joaquin, their twins friend, gave them hugs and introduce the sisters to their family. Everyone pilled into the family van, which sped towards the city center. A few minutes later, the van stopped in front of a lovely old building with a sign bearing words painted by hands: The Vega Dance School. It is Anita and Joaquin’s family dance school. They both learned to dance there, now they teach dance. This dance is known as one of the best flamenco schools in the world.
The sisters followed Anita into a large practice room that is covered with mirrors. Inside the room, Aunt July was dancing. She turned around with a smile on her face and introduce her self to the sisters. Colette is amazed by her dance moves and started to dance. Everyone laughed at her. Paulina pointed to a large painting hanging in the middle of a wall. It is a picture of a young dancer in a bright flamenco dress with an open fan on her hand. Joaquin said, “That’s Rosita Vega, our great-grandmother. She was the greatest flamenco dancer of all time.”
Suddenly, Mama Lucia was carrying a plateful of food. She cooked some tapas. So, they all ate the food in the patio. A few hours had passed by, the sisters and others were getting ready for the feria. The twins and the sisters were going to José to pick up some flowers for the festival later, the twins want to show them Plaza de España. It is one of the most beautiful spots to go to in Seville. After that, they all go to José. They all had got the flowers. Then, Lola and Pedro, the Navarro twins passed by the shop. Their family also runs a flamenco school too and they always compete with us.
As they finish picking up the flowers, they all get ready and dressed to go to Feria De Abril. Everyone had gorgeous flamenco dresses. The festival was very colorful and it was so much fun. There was music everywhere and also people dancing. In one of the casetas, Aunt July and Colette were dancing on stage. Everyone inside the caseta cheer and clap for them both. In the festival, Rodrigo also sang one of Rosita’s song. The Vega family started to sing and dance to the song.
In the middle of the festival they got hungry, then Anita suggested to eat chocolate con churros. The sisters loved the churros, especially Pamela. She ate a lot of churros. After that, they watch Aunt July performance. Her performance was spectacular. Everyone in the festival loved her dance and some of them were also following her dance moves when she was dancing on stage.
After a long week in Seville, they went back home. But before they all go to the airport to say goodbye, they spent some more time together. So, they stayed for one more day with the Vega family. The sisters talked about how much they enjoy their vacation in Seville and that they wish to go here again. Beside that, the sisters also said that they love the festival. Suddenly Pamela shouted, “And the food here are delicious!” Colette interrupted her and say “Don’t forget the fashion and also the flowers. They are stunning!”
A day had passed and the sisters gets ready to go back home. The Vega family drove them to the airport in the family van. When they are in the airport, the twins, Anita and Joaquin gave them some flamenco dresses for them to keep and also big hugs. They also said goodbye and the sisters went back home. The sisters say, “This was a fun trip and now it’s time to go back home. Adios Amigos!”
